At MVP Health Care® (MVP), our top priority is—and has always been—protecting the health and well-being of our members and the communities we serve.

Member Cost Shares Covered in Full for COVID-19 Vaccine

MVP is following state and federal guidance related to the COVID-19 vaccine and its distribution for New York and Vermont fully insured and self-insured health plans.

There will be no cost share for the vaccine for all members, as it is considered preventive under federal regulation. The vaccine will initially be paid for by the Federal Government, and MVP will pay for its administration. Self-insured groups will assume the vaccine administration cost for their plan participants.

Fully insured and self-insured groups who carve-out pharmacy from MVP will follow standard rules, and administration costs for the vaccine administered by a pharmacist will be covered by the group’s pharmacy plan.

Additionally, during the national State of Emergency, MVP will provide vaccination coverage for both in- and out-of-network providers for all commercial plans, and through December 31, 2021 for Medicare health plans.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has made recommendations to prioritize the vaccine distribution due in part to its current limited supply. The CDC recommends that health care personnel, and nursing home and long-term care facility residents be the first to receive the vaccine, followed by workers in essential industries. As the vaccine supply increases, further recommendations will be rolled out.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said initial vaccine distribution will be exclusive to nursing home workers and nursing home residents, as well as select health care workers.
