Summary: St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Colonie, New York seeks a capable pianist to support the worship of the congregation with suitable accompaniment for hymns and service music on Sunday mornings.
Capabilities: Classical training is necessary, and familiarity with the Anglican/Episcopal musical tradition is preferred. Experience with contemporary and gospel styles is also welcomed.
Requirements: The pianist will accompany music for one service on Sunday mornings (presently at 9:00 a.m.), including mostly hymns and service music from The Hymnal 1982. Music will typically include 3–4 hymn selections weekly, along with service music which varies seasonally. The pianist will bear no responsibility for service planning, but may attend one brief weekly coordination meeting with church clergy/staff.
Stipend: A weekly stipend of $100 is offered (negotiable on skill and experience). If the pianist is asked to play at occasional services besides the primary Sunday morning service, or to prepare special music for any service, additional compensation will be provided.
